Field Day at Norfolk Academy

Once each year, on the first Saturday in May I make my annual pilgrimage to Norfolk Academy, alma mater of my eldest child. Field Day. I love it.
There is every imaginable blow up bouncy thing a small child could possibly want to jump on, jump in or slide down. There are icies and bins upon bins of plastic junk that a kid can purchase with tickets won playing unloseable games. For me there are racks of great kids clothes, a plant sale, and beautiful art created by local artists.
It’s a day to feel happy that Randall loved it there. A day to wonder if I’m cheating Martina by not sending her to school. A day to brag about all the great finds I will take home and for the kids to revel in a safe environment.
