Starting the School Year

I always think of the Tuesday after Labor Day in the US as the Official First Day of School. This is when school started for me as a child and it is traditional for many Americans. I’ve made an executive decision however. We’re not starting until September 13th.

You see our homeschool co-op started on Tuesday and we had a weaving class that afternoon. Wednesday is the first piano lesson after a summer off. We really must begin on a Monday in order to start off with any sense of balance and rhythm, so it will be the 13th for us. Which gives me a whole week more for planning, for packages filled with art supplies and textbooks to arrive and for us to get up just a bit earlier and get our chores done.
